Recognizing Christ
in the Stranger

Saint Cleophas Outreach Ministry is a small but growing Christian community dedicated to sharing the Gospel through worship, compassionate presence, and community-based outreach — with particular attention given to those who feel overlooked or excluded.

Welcome to Saint Cleophas

Saint Cleophas Outreach Ministry is dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through reverent worship centered on the Holy Eucharist, pastoral presence, and compassionate outreach. We draw from the historic liturgy of the Anglican tradition — the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, the Revised Common Lectionary, and the Hymnal 1982 — connecting our community with the rich heritage of the Church while remaining welcoming to all.

Our gatherings are intentionally small and relational, fostering an environment where individuals can ask questions, grow in faith, and build meaningful relationships. We serve people from all walks of life, with particular attention to those experiencing housing insecurity, poverty, or social isolation.

Rather than operating as a large institutional program, we function as a relational, community-based mission — meeting people where they are and walking alongside them in friendship and spiritual support.

Our Patron: Saint Cleophas

Saint Cleophas — also known as Cleopas — is one of the two disciples who encountered the risen Christ on the road to Emmaus, recorded in Luke 24:13–35. Walking in grief from Jerusalem after the crucifixion, he and his companion were joined by a stranger who began to explain the scriptures as they traveled. It was only at table, in the breaking of bread, that their eyes were opened and they recognized him as the risen Lord.

This story lies at the very heart of our ministry's identity. We believe Christ continues to meet people in the ordinary journeys of life — often in unexpected places and among unexpected companions. Our calling is to walk alongside our neighbors, to open the scriptures together, and to recognize his presence in the breaking of bread and in the faces of those we serve.

The Emmaus story is also depicted in our parish logo: the risen Christ seated at table with Cleophas and his companion, sharing a meal in the open countryside — an image of welcome, recognition, and hope.

The Emmaus Account

“When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him.”
Luke 24:30–31

The feast day of Saint Cleophas is celebrated on September 25.
