Our Mission

Saint Cleophas Outreach Ministry exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, compassionate presence, and community-based outreach. A parish of the Reformed Catholic Church, we worship in the Anglican tradition using the liturgy of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, seeking to create a welcoming spiritual home for people from all walks of life.

We are especially attentive to those who often feel overlooked or excluded from traditional church settings — people experiencing housing insecurity, poverty, social isolation, or simply those who have found the doors of the Church difficult to enter. Our ministry believes that Christ meets people in the ordinary journeys of life, and our calling is to walk alongside our neighbors as he walked with Cleophas on the road to Emmaus.

“To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to gather around the table of the Lord, and to build a community where all people can encounter the transforming love of God.”
— The vision of Saint Cleophas Outreach Ministry

Our Ministries

Worship & Liturgy

At the heart of our community is reverent and accessible worship centered on the Holy Eucharist. We use the historic liturgy of the Anglican tradition, drawing from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and the Revised Common Lectionary.

This form of worship connects our community with the rich spiritual heritage of the Church while remaining welcoming to those who may be new to liturgical worship. Sunday Mass is live streamed on Facebook so that all may join.

Pastoral Care

We offer one-on-one pastoral visits, accompaniment to local services, short-term assistance referrals, and trauma-informed listening. The Sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick are available during office hours and by appointment.

For those who are homebound or hospitalized, pastoral visits can be arranged by contacting the office.

Bible Study

Our Wednesday Bible Study meets at 1:00 PM in the Martinsville office at First Baptist Church. Gatherings are intentionally small and relational, fostering an environment where individuals can ask questions, grow in faith, and build meaningful relationships.

No prior knowledge or experience is required — all are welcome.

Morning & Evening Prayer

The Daily Office anchors our community in regular, structured prayer drawn from the Anglican tradition. Morning Prayer (9:30 AM) and Evening Prayer (4:30 PM) are celebrated each Wednesday and live streamed on Facebook.

These brief services of scripture, canticle, and prayer are open to all and can be joined online from anywhere.

Community Outreach

A defining characteristic of our ministry is our commitment to serving people who experience social and economic marginalization — including individuals facing housing insecurity, poverty, or social isolation.

We emphasize hospitality, dignity, and authentic human connection as essential expressions of Christian faith. Through pastoral presence and shared community life, we seek to embody Christ’s commandment to “love one another.”

Spiritual Formation

In addition to regular liturgy and Bible study, we offer opportunities for prayer and spiritual formation throughout the week. We encourage members to deepen their faith through the regular use of the Daily Office, lectio divina, and personal prayer.

Speak with Fr. Mychal Joseph Gallop or Kato Padgett to learn more about spiritual direction and formation resources.
